TEHRAN – International Federation of Muaythai Associations (IFMA) Secretary General Stephan Fox has said that they have just recognized Javad Nasiri as President of the Iranian Muaythai Federation.
The Iranian ministry reportedly asked the Muaythai association, headed by Javad Nasiri, to work under the supervision of a martial arts association, but Fox said Nasiri had full authority to organize and supervise all Muaythai activities in Iran. .
“Mr. Nasiri has full authority to organize and supervise all Muaythai activities and has the exclusive right to use the logo, symbols, techniques, terms, resources and trademarks of the International Federation of Muaythai Associations Muaythai. On behalf of the IFMA, he was given legal protection,” Fox wrote in a letter sent to the Iranian Sports Ministry.
“We ask you to withdraw these arbitrary appointments, as anyone except Mr. Nasiri is invalid in the post,” he added.
Fox had previously warned that Iran’s Sports Ministry should not interfere in the sport.
According to him, the Iranian Ministry of Sports should not try to force Muaythai to be part of a martial arts federation.
Muaythai, sometimes called Thai boxing, is a combat sport that uses standing strikes as well as various clinch techniques.
