Speaking on Tuesday during his 13th report on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, he highlighted the lifting of unilateral US sanctions against Iran, the implementation of the JCPOA and the exploitation by Iran of its economic advantages.
The periodic meeting of the UN Security Council will be held in New York on Thursday, June 30 to consider the report of the UN Secretary General on the implementation of UNSC Resolution 2231 and the implementation of the JCPOA.
The UN Secretary-General presented his 13th report on the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 to the Council last week.
In this report, much of the literature in the report is similar to the previous one.
The UN chief said the JCPOA remains the best option for resolving the Iranian nuclear issue and multilateral diplomacy.
In his report, Guterres commended the diplomatic activities within the framework of the talks conducted for the return of all parties to their commitments under the JCPOA and called for very close and effective cooperation between the parties to the JCPOA.
The UN Secretary-General stressed the need to expedite these activities and avoid delays in the negotiation process, calling on Iran and the United States to show more flexibility in resolving the remaining issues to reach an agreement on the JCPOA.
He stressed the need to lift the unilateral US sanctions imposed against Iran’s nuclear activities and Iran’s enjoyment of the economic benefits of the JCPOA and reiterated his demand from the US on the removal of sanctions related to the oil sector.
